On the intersection of Vijzelstraat and Prinsengracht in Amsterdam, the Holle Dolle Donnie stood on King’s Day: a unique donation point for deposit packaging for Statiegeld Nederland (part of Verpact). We developed this activation to encourage the Netherlands in a fun way to return their cans and bottles.

The Holle Dolle Donnie is a playful nod to the well-known Holle Bolle Gijs from the Efteling amusement park. By returning deposit packaging at the Holle Dolle Donnie, people not only contributed to a cleaner Netherlands but also donated their deposit to support the homeless.

Campaign
The Holle Dolle Donnie is part of a large-scale campaign for Statiegeld Nederland. NOISE developed the overarching campaign for Statiegeld Nederland with rapper Donnie in the lead role. Gardeners was selected as the agency responsible for all consumer and PR activations. The campaign focuses on behavior change, aiming to motivate and activate Dutch citizens to return their deposit packaging, thus achieving a 90% return rate for all cans and plastic drink bottles.
